Personally, I would like to return this item. It does not dispense enough water for the chickens. It's basically a good concept, but the nipple just do not allow enough water to come out. I put the old waterer back in the pen and my flock drank and drank. With the hot Texas summer approaching my flock must have easy access to plenty of water and this does not supply enough. CHICKENWATERER RESPONSE: Hi Debra. I can understand how you might be concerned, but chickens need about 8 oz of water per day. The valves on the BriteTap waterer are more than adequate to supply this. In fact, the same style valves are used in commercial poultry operations to supply thousands of birds. They are a very well tested mechanism and have been used in these commercial operations for over 40 years. Many of our customers are in hot places like Texas because the BriteTap waterer can be attached to an insulated Igloo or RUbbermaid beverage cooler that keeps the water cool on hot days.
